Remote access
Controlled access to company data at any time and via a variety of devices is what differentiates modern businesses. Remote access brings with it many dangers and these must be controlled by the technology facilitating the access.
Rather than using traditional IPSec VPNs, businesses are now using lighter weight SSL VPNs. These can be used with devices such as PDAs where 'heavier' clients are unsuitable.
All good SSL VPN devices also control the access provided to the user by scoring the device the user is using. Is it a known company machine? Is it running an up to date virus signature? etc. The user's access can then be modified dependant on the profile of the machine. Gone is the in or out logic of older VPNs. Users can now access e-mail but not attachments from an airport kiosk, have full access on their company laptop in a hotel room, but be barred access from an internet café where a keylogger is found to be running.
ADA supplies a number of SSL VPN devices from manufacturers such as Juniper Networks and f5. ADA's relationship with communication suppliers such as BT gives the customer the ability to implement end-to-end remote connectivity solutions via a single order point.
